Quality service

Why work with me?

Respect

At the foundation of the work I do for all clients is respect: respect for your voice, as the writer; respect for your sense of self-efficacy during our work process; and respect for the reader who will be on the receiving end of the written result once you publish or otherwise share your work.

Passion for editing

I find it satisfying to edit written work—tightening sentence structure, enhancing flow, clarifying meaning, adding well-placed hyphens—to support your voice, as the writer, so you will engage your readers and get your message across effectively.  I care about these things.  This kind of work requires an ability to see the bigger picture, coupled with an affinity for detail, both of which describe my approach to editing.

Value for money

Previous clients often comment that my editing surpasses their expectations.  However, my rates reflect the average charged by most professional editors, giving you good value for money.

Document design and layout

In addition to editing and writing, I am also skilled at document design and layout.  I would be happy to provide you with these services, if needed.

You'll become a better writer

Upon request, I will provide explanations and teaching points underlying certain edits, tailored to your specific writing style. This will cost marginally more upfront due to the extra time needed, but will pay off by enhancing your writing skills. As a result, the next time you need a manuscript edited, it will take me less time, reducing your associated fees.  Some clients also request a coaching session with me (virtual meeting) for line-by-line writing support, to boost their ongoing growth as a writer.

Testimonials

There have been so many times as we were looking through the documents where we would say, 'Wow! Kirsten made that so much better!' Thank you for your attention to detail and working so hard on this project. It's easy to see how much you cared and how thoughtfully you approached the edits. We are really grateful for all of your work and for adding the 'Kirsten magic' to our writing.
